UPDATE: Fall 2013 Smorgasburg moved to Brooklyn Bridge Park’s Pier 5. Same great dog-friendly event in a new space. Very close to the Pier 6 dog run.
Kiss your diet goodbye and say hello to a new a dog-friendly Sunday brunch tradition at Smorgasburg DUMBO. The foodie wonderland has set up shop at the Tabacco Warehouse on Sundays and is calling this new spot home until November 18.
We took a field trip this past weekend and it was love at first bite. There must have been somewhere near 60+ vendors offering everything from artisanal s’mores and homemade pop tarts to build-your-own hash browns and beef jerky made in Brooklyn.
Similar to the Williamsburg location, dogs are allowed at Smorgasburg DUMBO. It seemed that one in every twenty people had a furry friend in tow and they were all behaved. This includes Laly, although she did try to sneak a bite of the Kings County Jerky samples and who can blame her.
Our “Sunday brunch” consisted of lobster rolls from the Red Hook Pound, followed by a glazed donut from Dough, salted caramel s’more torched to perfection before our very eyes, homemade pop tart, oysters from Brooklyn Oyster Party, maple glazed bacon on a stick, a pulled pork sandwich, cherry plum shaved ice from People’s Pops, watermelon lemonade and agua de panela from a Colombian food stand.
This sounds like a page from The Very Hungry Catepillar but most portions were tasting size. We also walked there and back from Cobble Hill with a built in calorie burning stop at Hillside Dog Run. Be sure to make this amazing dog run a stop on your excursion to Smorgasburg DUMBO.
