Woman Goes to Jail for Bringing Dog on Subway

Woman takes dog on subway without carrier. Cop gives woman a ticket.  Woman argues with cop and spends the night in jail. Did I mention she’s now suing. While I don’t think the woman deserved to get thrown in jail, she should have known better. You can read more about her visit to central booking in the NY Post.

Here’s a refresher on traveling with your pooch on public transportation in New York, courtesy of Pet Travel.

  • Small dogs in carriers are allowed on the Long Island Railroad, Long Island Bus and New York City Transit buses and subways.
  • Small dogs in carriers or on a secure leash are allowed on the Metro-North Railroad.
  • The pet carrier should be able to fit on your lap and should not occupy a seat.
  • Dogs should not bother other passengers.
