Brooklyn’s Best Pet Stores

Retail giant Petco plans to open a Brooklyn store on Seventh Avenue and Union. While it will be convenient to have all your pet supplies under one roof let’s not forget the ma and pa stores. This week’s Time Out New York includes a round-up of the best pet stores by borough. Here’s who made their list in Brooklyn:

Buttercup’s Paw-tisserie (my absolute favorite) and Animal Fare in Park Slope
The Hamilton Dog House in Flatbush
Love Thy Pet in Carroll Gardens
BQE Pet Supply, Muddy Paws, Kiki’s Pet Spa and Boutique (also has a Fort Greene Location) and PS9 Pets in Williamsburg

Rocco and Jezebel

From the looks of the round-up, the writer must live in Williamsburg since they had four stores on the list. To make things more balanced I’m adding Rocco and Jezebel in Brooklyn Heights to the mix. This boutique on Pineapple Walk has a great selection of unique pet supplies that are functional and feature cool design. I just love their subway map themed doggie raincoats. Pay them a visit if you’re looking for a groomer in the area. They do a good job with Laly and actually listen! Say hello to Andrea when you drop by.

totally agree re: Rocco and Jezebel…it’s my dog Hudson’s second home and just an awesome, awesome place for grooming, boarding, supplies, you name it.
